Distinguishing features
Anoterostemma ivanhofi have a robust body shape, but adults are only 2.5 - 4.5mm long.
As is typical with leafhoppers, the hind tibia has one to three rows of spines running along the entire length:

They are brachypterous i.e. they have very shortened forewings, and hindwings that are reduced in size or completely absent. The abdomen is entirely black apart from the terminal segments; the background colour of the head, thorax and wings is light brown with distinctive dark brown/black markings.
